3D Concrete Inspection

See every defect on your structure, in its exact place

With 3D concrete inspection, DIMCOST turns drone and LiDAR captures into an accurate 3D model of your structure. Defects, test locations and core samples are mapped directly onto the geometry, so everyone looks at the same picture and you can follow damage over the years.

Sound familiar?

  • Hard-to-reach structures

Cooling towers, silos and tunnels are difficult and costly to inspect up close, and working at height brings safety risks.

  • Photos without context

You have thousands of photos, but nobody knows exactly where on the structure each one was taken.

  • Inspections you can’t compare

Campaigns from different years are hard to compare, so you can’t tell whether damage is growing.

  • Test results on paper

Lab results and core locations live in separate reports and drawings, disconnected from the visible damage.

How 3D concrete inspection works

Most inspections end in a report full of photos. With 3D concrete inspection in DIMCOST, you get a model you can measure, annotate and compare over time, in three steps.

Capture from the air

Step 1 · Drone and LiDAR capture

Aerial imagery and LiDAR scans are turned into a millimeter-accurate 3D model of your cooling tower, silo, bridge deck, tunnel or retaining wall.

  • Safer inspections: large and hard-to-reach surfaces are captured without putting people at height.

  • Capture partner: drone capture is carried out with Medexon, part of the SANACON group.

  • Existing captures: you can also import drone or scan data you already have.

Defects mapped on the geometry

Step 2 · Spatial defect mapping

Visual defects, NDT test locations and core sample points are placed directly on the 3D geometry of the structure.

  • Exact location: every crack, spall or rust stain is linked to its position on the structure.

  • Data in context: test results and core positions sit next to the visible damage they explain.

  • One shared view: owners, inspectors and engineers look at the same model.

Track change over time

Step 3 · Temporal tracking

Compare 3D models from different years side by side to see how the structure evolves.

  • Crack propagation: follow how cracks grow in length and width.

  • Spalling growth: measure how damaged areas expand between inspections.

  • Structural movement: detect deformation and displacement over time.

What you gain

  • Safer inspections

Less work at height and in hazardous zones.

  • Faster field work

Large structures captured in a fraction of the time.

  • Clear communication

A 3D model that management and contractors understand at a glance.

  • Measurable evolution

    Objective comparison between inspection campaigns.

Who is it for?

  • Asset owners and managers

Of cooling towers, silos, tunnels, bridges, quay walls and industrial facilities.

  • Inspection and drone teams

That want to turn raw captures into usable deliverables quickly.

  • Engineering and consultancy firms

That need accurate geometry and defect locations for their assessments.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What do I need for a 3D concrete inspection?

A drone or LiDAR capture of the structure. We can organise this through Medexon, or you can import captures that you or other parties already made.

How accurate is the 3D model?

Captures are converted into millimeter-accurate 3D digital twins, precise enough to locate and measure surface defects.

Can I compare inspections from different years?

Yes. 3D models from different campaigns can be compared side by side to follow crack growth, spalling and movement.

Can I link lab results to the 3D model?

Yes. NDT test locations and core samples are placed on the geometry, so material test results sit next to the visible damage.
